10 July 2017 (New York City, New York): Lovell Corporation is thrilled to announce that our CEO Kelly Lovell will be an expert guest speaker at the inaugural United Nations’ High Level Political Forum (HLPF). The HLPF calls for full and effective participation of all States Members of the United Nations and States members of specialized agencies to review the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. From 10 July to 19 July, delegates from all over the world will convene in New York to discuss the eradication of global poverty and strategies for promoting prosperity in a changing world.
“Often when we look at accelerating change, we do so in isolation - within our community, our sector, or our country. The Sustainable Development Goals provide a global framework for stakeholders to come together from all parts of the world and align their efforts to improve prosperity for all,” Lovell explains. “It is an honour to speak with these world leaders and support their objectives in achieving 2030 Agenda”
The mission of the High Level Political Forum is to address the goals outlined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There are six goals that will be of particular focus this year at the forum:
- Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
- Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
- Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
- Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
- Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
- Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
The aim of the discussions will be to improve and strengthen the means of implementation to revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
During the forum, Kelly Lovell will be speaking on several panels including “Harnessing the Power of Volunteering to Achieve the 2030 Agenda” with International Forum for Volunteering in Development, and, “Youth in STEM for achieving peace and positive change for all,“ in partnership with UNIDO and United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Combining her millennial and youth mobilization expertise with her innovative work with MyEffect Inc, Lovell will advise HLPF delegates on strategies to activate and measure the impact of millennials and youth volunteers towards the achievement of the SDGs.
My Effect Inc, Lovell’s newest social enterprise, is a Millennial focused digital platform that uses blockchain technology and self-adaptive computing to intelligently connect users with and report on social actions that make contributions towards the SDGs.
“MyEffect’s unique approach to multi-stakeholder collaboration and creative use of technology in documenting social action provides a reliable framework for UN State Members and non-state actors, such as civil societies and nonprofit organizations, to track their impact towards the 2030 Agenda,” Lovell shares.
Breakthrough technologies such as blockchain provide a framework to intelligently document and analyze performance data in more convenient and reliable way. By removing the need for intermediaries, the integrity and efficiency of data collection increases, helping organizations confidently communicate their social impact to target audiences.
“The core benefit of MyEffect’s model is our focus on mobilizing citizen action. Government, civil society, nonprofit organizations, private sector - despite the stakeholder hat we wear, at the end of the day, the realization of the 2030 Agenda will come from citizens. We are the employees, volunteers, and community members that make up each stakeholder community. It is therefore important that our strategies in advancing the SDGs incentivize and recognize the role citizens play in achieving our objectives.”
Lovell will share more on the aforementioned, including how stakeholders can mobilize action from the youngest influencers in their communities, at the HLPF in the coming days.
About UN Sustainable Development Goals
On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years.
For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part: governments, the private sector, civil society and people like you.
Do you want to get involved? You can start by telling everyone about them. We’ve also put together a list of actions that you can take in your everyday life to contribute to a sustainable future.
