First time event is held outside the United Nations headquarters

September 17, 2019 [Toronto, Canada] — BridgingTheGap Forums proud to host the BridgingTheGap to Youth Forum on September 18, 2019, presented in partnership with the Global People’s Summit to a global audience. Live streaming from Toronto, it’s a particularly special event for Canada as this will be the first time that the Global People’s Summit will take place outside of UN headquarters in New York City.

An initiative of Lovell Corporation and with a theme of Becoming Future Ready Together, the BridgingTheGap to Youth Forum aims to empower, engage and connect young people, key decision-makers and influencers from around the world to co-create solutions to some of the world’s most challenging issues such as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—putting the ideas of young people at the centre of critical discussions that shape the future.

“You need only to look at the current youth-driven movements like March for Our Lives and the school strikes for climate mobilizing millions of people to see the passion, conviction and capability for the youth generation to lead change,” explains Kelly Lovell, CEO of Lovell Corporation and a 16-time award-winning entrepreneur and young leader.
“My mission with the BridgingTheGap to Youth Forum is to bring visibility to this power and change the conversation to have the voices, ideas and needs of young people at the heart of the solution.”

Focused on bridging opportunity gaps for emerging talent, BridgingTheGap Forums has partnered with regional, national and international youth-focused organizations to bring up to 100 young people 15-30 to attend the forum at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in Toronto. The line-up includes over 30 inspiring speakers from government, media and business sectors including:

  • UN decision-makers from the UN Office of Partnerships, UNESCO, ITU, UN Foundation, UN SDG Action Campaign, United Nations Environmental Protection Agency, and World Food Programme;
  • Media influencers like LGBTQ+ activist and reality TV personality Frankie J. Grande, producer and singer/songwriter Maejor, lifestyle YouTubers Adelaine Morin and Meg DeAngelis;
  • Industry leaders like Ontario Minister of Education Hon. Stephen Lecce, Nelson Mandela’s grandson Ndaba Mandela, author of Solve for Happy and former CBO for Google X Mo Gawdat, co-executive director of Girl Up Anna Blue, global advocacy lead of World Food Programme Frances Simpson-Allen, founder and CEO of Nutritional Brands Danna Pratte, director and national lead of sustainability and social impact at Deloitte Sarah Chapman, and CEO of MoonExpress and Viome Naveen Jain;
  • Young changemakers from the Kofi Annan Foundation, Obama Foundation Scholars, Forbes 30 Under 30, Canada’s Top 20 Under 20, One Young World Ambassadors and Queen’s Young Leaders winners.
